Rise and shine, New Horizons. A mission to study Pluto will be taken out of hibernation on Saturday 6 December as the probe begins its final approach to the dwarf planet at the edge of our solar system.
It has been a long ride. When the New Horizons probe launched in 2006, Pluto was still considered a full planet – its status was changed to "dwarf planet" later that year. Now the probe has nearly completed the 4.76 billion kilometre journey to this remote and icy world.To read more, click here.
