"Let's get serious, shall we?" Insults will not advance journalism, science and sound public "UFO" policy!

Recent exchanges from Sarfatti's list have put some "clicking and clacking" with self-anointed UFO author and Dan Smith acolyte Ed Komarek, who has graduated from "Operation Right To Know" street theater and True Believer First Class Status from the Gulf Breeze UFO Flappers, to present posture as "ET Expert and UFO Disclosure Policy Wonk, Extraordinaire." This is a list of prep work I've shared with Ed, given his odd responses to an exchange Jack has peripherally mediated. If we're going to do anything serious about the science and science policy attendant to the work Sarfatti, Puthoff and others are doing... even if we can't "do the math" and puzzle out the formulas... having working knowledge of the vocabulary might be helpful? Alas.

Ed should begin here, an excellent and "gentle" article about J. Allen Hynek. Note particularly the quote from 1977, in which Dr. Hynek is quoted thus: In 1977, at the First International UFO Congress in Chicago, Hynek spoke to a packed house. “What I really believe about UFOs is that the phenomenon as a whole is real, but not necessarily just one thing.”    http://historicmysteries.com/roswell-that-ends-well/10

This quote, amplified by my series of conversations with Dr. Hynek beginning in 1983, when I was still with Cousteau's operation as Coordinator of Information and Policy Analysis for The Cousteau Society, inspired my "Matrix of UFO Beliefs," prepared for the UFO Disclosure Initiative mounted by Laurance Rockefeller to the Clinton White House (with which I was involved, October 1992 through 1994, directly, and subsequently following my voluntary departure from the Human Potential Foundation as Director of Project Development).

The original text of my "Matrix of UFO Beliefs" is presented accurately, here:  http://www.presidentialufo.com/old_site/matrixof.htm

Continuing with background information essential to intelligent discussion of "UFO/ET technologies and collateral "terrestrial" research status and clues for how much we (humans) know or are trying to know:

http://www.ufoupdateslist.com/1997/aug/m04-006.shtml  (Here is New York Times science writer, Pulitzer Prize winner William Broad's article in the Times: "CIA Admits Government Lied About UFOs" in the issue of 3 August 1997. NOTE: I'd met Bill Broad at a book signing on Cape Cod in June of 1997, and when he had learned in our chat about my work with and for the Rockefeller UFO Disclosure Initiative, we discussed the status of the story and what was NOT yet being discussed. Bill hooked up with Ron Pandolfi, who helped Bill find the Haines and other reports. Bill and I had an ongoing exchange, which remains "on background." He wrote an excellent book on ocean science, "The Universe Below," (the focus of the signing at which I met him... he was interested in my previous work with and for Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, mentioned here:

J. Deardorff, B. Haisch, B. Maccabee and H. E. Puthoff, "Inflation-Theory Implications for Extraterrestrial Visitation," Jour. Brit. Interplanetary Soc. 58, 43-50 (2005).

(Take not of the reference to: Lindbergh, UFOs and the Jews... then see...following. And what makes Halperin's thinking interesting and worthy of at least consideration, is that he's looking at history through unfiltered or unvarnished preconceptions, and... most enlightening and helpful... allowing for ambiguity when he doesn't have "the answer" or even an understanding of "why" something may have happened, as noted in his last paragraphs.

Point being, a 'high tolerance for ambiguity" is essential in investigative reporting and policy analysis. If one has a "need to believe," for whatever personal (psychological) or political (preferential) reasons: Watch out!

http://www.disclose.tv/action/musiclist/musicnew/?tags=Major%20Donald%20Keyhoe%20And%20Don%20Berliner%20NICAP%201966  (Here you'll fine Keyhoe and Don Berliner from NICAP 1966... instructive if you recall that it was Berliner to whom Bootsie Galbraith turned (along with Tono Huneeus) to write the odd "Rockefeller UFO Disclosure" briefing paper which displaced Greer (Stephen claimed "plagiarism" for some of what was produced). Of course, "Tono" worked with Rosemary Ellen Guiley, at FATE Magazine and Llewellyn publishing... and Rosie handled Crop Circles in the late '80s and '90s... and according to Dan Smith AND Rosie... (the two were engaged to be married for a time), they were working with and for Dale Graff, when he was at DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency), having shifted his career over there after he left the USAF, working out of Wright-Patt., among other places. Just sayin'... if you're going to call the game, you can't tell the players without a program, Ed.

http://area51specialprojects.com/cia-ufo.html  (Note narrative about Keyhoe's taking on CIA and eventual resignation of Admiral Hillenkoetter from NICAP's board... circa 1958, after Keyhoe's TV interview with Mike Wallace... who by the way, according to Scott Jones... was always a "friend of Navy intelligence," given his (Wallace's) service in the Navy during WW2. The implication was that Wallace had more than a journalistic relationship with the Navy... much as some wonder whether George Noory, himself a Navy Reserve officer is in some no doubt patriotic league with the military today. Intelligence agencies always have operatives and assets well-placed in "mainstream media," as confirmed by former DCI John Deutsch as recently as 1996.

And here's an excellent summary, with helpful bibliographical references:  http://www.themissingtimes.com/ppolice.xhtml

There are many others, but the point is that unless we ask better questions, our answers won't improve!

Likewise, having yet another "inspired philosophy" and political diatribe centered on "UFO/ET" is a rampant waste of time, whether for the reading or for the writing. Recycling tall tales is for around the campfire, more ghost stories for chilling and thrilling the kiddies, but certainly not advancing anomalous science and policy, much less configuring humane and sensible governance processes for any resultant applications of same.
