Here is what I think is an important insight into the nature of the dark energy accelerating the expansion of our observable universe. (2-8-11)

The mystery of dark energy is explained by the hologram cosmological principle trivially and it shows how stupid we all are, me included, that it took this long.

I have generally shown that the Unruh temperature at any horizon (i.e., g00 = 0) is for static LNIF detectors (lowered on a cable, analog to accelerating Rindler observers) at distance d from the horizon (e.g. Taylor series in first order for our future de Sitter metric g00 = 1 - /\r^2 distance d from our retro-causal post-selected future horizon).

kBTHorizon(r = 0) ~ hc/(geometric mean of horizon radius with d)

This is the temperature of our future horizon that we see here back-from-the-future as advanced Wheeler-Feynman blackbody radiation (real photons) that cools down to zero point vacuum fluctuations (virtual photons) when it reaches us.

The Hawking temperature at the future horizon of thickness Lp and area A = /\^-1 itself is

kBTHorizon(r = /\^-1/2) ~ hc/Lp


kBTHorizon(r = 0) ~ hc/(LpRH)^1/2

The Stephan-Boltzmann Law is that the black body energy density ~ T^4

Voila!

The RHS is the observed dark energy density.
Summary. If our observer-dependenent future horizon of area A has Planck thickness Lp with Hawking zero point energy density hc/Lp^4 as given by quantum field theory, then the cosmological redshift of this Wheeler-Feynman back-from-the-future advanced thermal radiation gives the observed hc/ALp^2 energy density. Also from the Unruh effect this thermal radiation for the accelerating LNIF observer looks like zero point vacuum fluctuations to the locally coincident non-accelerating inertial LIF observer. However, in this de Sitter metric g00 = 1 - /\r^2 we are always located at r = 0 with the future horizon at g00 = 0. Therefore, we are inertial at r = 0 because the static LNIF acceleration is
~ c^2/\r(1 - /\r^2)^-1/2.

It's not that everything is predestined.
It's that everything is post-selected,
in Aharonov's sense,
at our future event horizon.
That is what Hawking called "The Mind of God"
-- a VALIS Cosmic Conscious AI Omega Point GOD(D) Computer.
This is a really crazy idea.

All the material objects in the world and even the gravity curvature fields are back-from-the-future
3D hologram images from our 2D post-selected future event horizon Omega Surface hologram screen
(VALIS, Black Cloud, Star Maker, I. J. Good's "GOD(D)") conscious cosmic computer with signal nonlocality
in this topsy turvy crazy theory. The area-entropy of our future horizon is the reciprocal dark energy density

Fred Alan Wolf and I have been working on the idea that the future can influence the past since
the late 1960's when we were professors in the physics department of San Diego State.
Nice that Paul Davies and others are now jumping on their bandwagon. Aharonov's work on this
started around 1964, but I don't recall if Fred and I were aware of it back then. We were influenced
by I.J. Good who may have known of Yakir's 1964 paper.  Of course my first introduction to
back-from-the-future physics was in 1953 as a child in a series of mysterious telephone calls.
President Obama recently gave Yakir a medal for it at The White House - well deserved.
This is an important idea that will change theology as well as physics.
