Ptolemaic Productions and Therapy Studios announced today the February 2011 release of their much-anticipated film Transcendent Man. Directed by Barry Ptolemy, Transcendent Man chronicles the life and controversial ideas of inventor, futurist, and author Ray Kurzweil, one of the world’s most respected advocates of the role of technology in our future.

In TRANSCENDENT MAN, Ptolemy follows Kurzweil around the globe as he presents the daring arguments from his bestselling book, The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology. Kurzweil predicts that with the ever-accelerating rate of technological change, humanity is fast approaching an era in which our intelligence will become increasingly non-biological and millions of times more powerful. This will be the dawning of a new civilization, enabling us to transcend our biological limitations. In Kurzweil’s post-biological world, boundaries blur between human and machine, real and virtual. Human aging and illness are reversed and we vastly extend human longevity. Throughout the film, Kurzweil maintains a radically optimistic view of the future, while emphasizing the importance of addressing inherent dangers.

Wayne Miller: "But only a few will be able to participate so what good is it? I think the smart move would be to counter it because of the few evil ones who will embrace it. Technology is a wonderful thing but you can see this one moving towards a weapon."

Jack Sarfatti: "Only a few participate in most valued things. It's always been that way and with unsustainable over-population on a dying planet it will continue to be that way UNLESS we get stargate technology for mass migration to virgin Earth-like planets. That's why UFOs are important because they have that technology."

Kim Burrafato: "Ditto!"
