The mystery of a large, fleeting flash of light that appeared in the darkened skies over Phoenix last week has been solved.
Arizona Public Service said on Monday that a breaker on an electrical line opened, causing a big flash and a brief power outage.
Officials say an employee came forward at the weekend to inform them of the breaker opening, which caused no damage to equipment or need for power line replacement.
