The US space agency has called for help from the public after conspiracy theorists put forward wild speculations online that the lights on small planet Ceres could be signs of it being an alien space station like the Star Wars Death Star.

A NASA unmanned space probe called Dawn is currently orbiting Ceres and getting closer pictures all the time, but its experts remain baffled as to what the lights are.

It has launched an online poll for people's views giving six options:

They include a volcano, geyser, rock, ice, salt deposit, or 'other', which presumably includes alien space stations and other UFOs

The website says: 'Can you guess what's creating those unusual bright spots on Ceres? On March 6, NASA's Dawn spacecraft began orbiting Ceres, the largest body in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Even before the spacecraft arrived at the dwarf planet, images revealed mysterious bright spots that captivated scientists and observers alike. Until Dawn gets a closer look over the next few months, it's anyone's guess what those spots could be. So, go ahead! Cast your vote.'

The poll came after UFO forums speculated the mystery lights could have been put there by aliens trying to contact other beings.

Now why would NASA want us, "the little people," to give their opinions? Very interesting, to say the least. Something's up. To read more, click here.
