The reason we haven’t heard anything from aliens could be that they’re all busy playing video games so brilliant they make PS4 look like an abacus.
That’s one of the answers suggested by German science channel Kurz Gesagt to the ‘Fermi Paradox’ - the question of why we have heard anything from space.
Other - more depressing - answers include the idea that advanced civilisations tend to wipe themselves out very rapidly, leaving the universe a dead, empty space.
But Kurz Gesagt suggests that instead, aliens could upload their consciousnesses into a “Matrioshka brain’ - a theoretical megastructure where stars are used to power really awesome computers.
