n a major breakthrough, Nokia researchers claim to have reached supersonic internet speeds of 1 one terabit of data per second over a fiber connection. The speed is almost 1,000 times faster than the current internet speeds offered by Google Fiber which is 1 gigabit per second. It is to be noted that Google Fiber is among one of the fastest internet service providers in the U.S.
The research team from Nokia Bell Labs, the Technical University of Munich and Deutsche Telekom T-Labs will be showing off the new jaw-dropping technique called Probabilistic Constellation Shaping, or PCS, soon. Notably, the internet speed is fast enough for a user to download the entire Game of Thrones series in high definition in just one second time. The high-speed internet technique called Probabilistic Constellation Shaping, or PCS, uses quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) formats to achieve higher transmission capacity over a given channel to significantly improve the spectral efficiency of optical communications, reported BGR.
