Researchers have demonstrated a proof of concept version of a new battery technology that could make charging your phone once a week a reality. The system uses supercapacitors that can fully charge in a second to take batteries to the next level

The technique has been developed by a team of scientists at the University of Central Florida's NanoScience Technology Center. It's a long way from being commercialised but the researchers are optimistic it'll be instrumental to future power sources. It could transform tech ranging from smartphones and tablets to electric cars and biomedical devices.
