The space agency has scheduled a press conference for 6pm today GMT to detail "new science results" gathered by its Curiosity rover.

The rover landed on the Red Planet in August 2012 and has produced a string of sensational snaps ever since.

But Dr Barry DiGregorio has told Daily Star Online he believes their findings will show that Mars was once brimming with life.

The University of Buckinghamshire research fellow told us: "What is the NASA announcement about?

"Since Jennifer Eigenbrode and Paul Mahaffy from the NASA Curiosity SAM organics analysis team are involved, it likely means the west chemistry experiment designed by Eigenbrode that is inside SAM have detected complex indigenous amino acids on Mars.
