A new tactic emerging in the Middle East that uses swarms of small drones packed with explosives to attack major targets is a deadly new threat to established military powers, a security expert has warned.
 
Israel launched attacks against Iranian military bases in Syria on the weekend to halt what it claimed was a planned "killer drone" strike by Iran.
 
The drones - packed with explosives -  can loiter in the skies for hours waiting for a target to appear, and then either detonate above the target or dive bomb it and explode on impact.
