From attempts to contact aliens to a cheeky programmer just trying to mess with people, all kinds of theories have flown about the mysterious videos of YouTube user Webdriver Torso. The enigmatic uploader has posted tens of thousands of videos, almost all of them around 11 seconds in length; nothing but alternating red and blue shapes on a white background, playing a series of piercing tones.
