The two amazing pictures of the circular metallic-looking object were snapped by father and son Roy and Ralph Keane when they were in their back garden in Kilsyth, Melbourne, Australia.

The pair sent them to veteran British UFO investigator Philip Mantle to examine.

A letter alongside the snaps read: "The darker picture was hurriedly taken at approximately 1pm using an incorrect light setting during overcast weather conditions.

"The other photo was taken at approximately 1.30pm after the camera setting had been adjusted to obtain a lighter picture and, by that time, the weather had greatly improved."

They said that each time it was photographed, it appeared to move on a trajectory to their right as they looked up.

The father and son added: "Almost immediately after each picture was taken, the flying object seemed to momentarily hover, then dip and move to the left."

Eventually it disappeared behind trees.
