The perfectly round object was discovered by Terry Matthew Betz when he rushed to a bush fire outside his home in 1974.
Betz, from Florida, found the sphere was unscathed and was still very shiny despite having been in the fire, which left his mum and dad completely baffled.
The family thought it was a piece of equipment that had fallen from the Soviet’s Sputnik satellite and, thinking nothing of it, took it back to the house.
But after a few weeks the ball began to produce strange throbbing sounds “which deeply disturbed the family’s dog who ran and hid under a table”, according to alien conspiracy theory channel SecureTeam10.
