I have not had time yet to evaluate the competence of this report - allegations are serious indeed apocalyptic, I know previous claims have been debunked. They are represented as new allegations. Martin Rees discusses strangelets (vacuum instability) in his book "Our Final Hour".

Well let's hope this is wrong. At least, unlike string theory, the allegation is Popper falsifiable and we will all know the answer on November 10, 2010 if it's wrong that is. ;-)

I went through the web site, quickly but pretty thoroughly, and could find no contact information for the people responsible for the site.  Neither could I find even one article that had a writer's byline, or a name at the end.  In other words, it's an anonymous web site. How much credibility can it have?  The article you linked is by someone who has allegedly filed a suit to stop CERN, names people allegedly involved, but not the writer of the article himself or herself. Neither is the suit reference so that it can be verified and read. In other words, this has all the earmarks of disinformation.

Maybe I'll be dead in a Super-Nova in a month or two, but I'll take that chance before I'll take an article seriously that goes on and on about how close we are to destroying the planet, but won't reveal the name of the author, nor his or her credentials.  In another article, the same writer gives us the following quote, "It is thus obvious that our discourse of ‘lofty intentions’ and ‘big science’ merely hides the engine of History – the destruction of the Tree of Life with the eviL tools of the Tree of Science, weapons and money."  That is a standard, Luddite, nut-case statement.

Thanks David

Yes, your analysis suggests it's same old alarmist stuff - rehashed.

Subject: Re: [Starfleet Command] any sober informed opinions on this "new" claim of CERN strangelet lab-induced Big Bang coverup?

Jack,
If strangelets could be produced in accelerators, they would have shown up at RHIC, Brookhaven, which has been running since 2000.  See the Wiki on Strangelets.
