With the death in January of Marin human potential pioneer George Leonard, the torch is being passed to a new generation of thinkers and writers, including a professor of religious studies who believes that we all have the power to transform ourselves into real-life superheroes.

His thesis: Superheroes aren't born, they're made.

This comic book-inspired visionary is Jeff Kripal, who teaches religion at Rice University and will be the star speaker at the third annual Integral Transformative Practice International (ITPI) Conference on June 11 and 12 at St. Stephen's Church in Belvedere.
