Famed British physicist Stephen Hawking got it all wrong about aliens visiting Earth, says Fredericton UFO expert Stanton Friedman.

"Look, Hawking is a brilliant physicist but that was really a stupid comment about we shouldn't make our presence known," he told The Daily Gleaner on Wednesday.

"Stephen totally ignored all the evidence we have that aliens are visiting already."

Hawking said recently that if aliens visited the planet, it might be the equivalent of Columbus discovering North America, which didn't turn out too well for First Nations peoples.

Hawking suggested aliens might plunder the Earth's resources.

But Friedman believes aliens have already visited and we would be able to defend ourselves if they turned nasty.

I agree with Stanton. Note however John Baez associates crackpot points for people who mis-spell "Hawking" as "Hawkings" or "Hawkins", and who write "Fineman" for "Feynman" ;-) -- Jack Sarfatti
