The calls and e-mails into our newsroom began just after 10:00 Wednesday night about a strange phenomenon in the sky. Some said they saw a fireball and others described a flash moving across the sky.
The National Weather Service says what people saw was meteor. It was captured on video from a sheriff's deputy dashboard camera in Howard County.
There were reports of sightings of the meteor in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri, Michigan and South Dakota. Experts say it is unlikely the meteor landed.
