The latest in a seemingly endless line of U.S. hypersonic missile projects, which called for an air-breathing anti-ship weapon to arm the Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet multirole fighter, has been announced and promptly canceled. The service revealed earlier this week that it was beginning research into the scramjet-poweredweapon as part of the Screaming Arrow Innovative Naval Prototype program, before announcing today it had axed the project — at least for now.
