NASA believes that future sophisticated space-based telescopes, equipped with "deformable" mirrors, could offer better capability to directly image exoplanets beyond our solar system.
NASA has been actively researching this realm through its Deformable Mirror Technology project, which is being carried out at Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The search for extraterrestrial life has been a central pursuit in space exploration, and as of now, there is no definitive conclusion or evidence to support either side of the question. The primary focus in the future decades will be on identifying habitable worlds similar to our own.
Direct imaging techniques are imperative for locating Earth-like planets to gain valuable insights about their atmospheric conditions and geological characteristics. It is, however, significantly more complicated than imagined.
