Researchers at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) in the US have taken an important step toward making nuclear fusion a reality. The team determined the maximum density of uncharged or neutral particles at the plasma’s edge before it started cooling off, which made the reaction unstable.
Using this information, the team can determine exactly how much nuclear fuel they can add to ensure a stable output from the reactor.
