A Waterford-based carer is convinced he encountered UFOs in the skies above his home last week.
A photo of the perceived extraterrestrial activity shows five white orbs in the sky above a housing estate in the Gracedieu area outside of Waterford City.
Speaking to the Irish Sun, Martin, 58, recounted seeing the unexplained lights from his house last Wednesday evening.
He said: “I was sitting in my kitchen with my wife when these lights just appeared in the sky. I initially thought there was just three of them, but after taking a picture and zooming in it is clear that there is actually five.
“They just hoovering there for a couple of seconds and then shot up into the sky and disappeared out of view.
"My initial thinking was that it certainly wasn't aircraft, because aircraft don't hang in the air. They weren't helicopters or drones either, that's for sure. And they weren’t satellites.
