A leading space expert has warned that the cosmos is bustling with extra-terrestrial life at various evolutionary stages, and we should steer clear of them to prevent a real-life Star Wars scenario.
Shreedhara Somanath, the aerospace engineer behind India's moon missions, believes there are 'definitely' aliens out there. However, he's not keen on making contact, fearing it could lead to an interstellar conflict. The 61-year-old brain behind the Chandrayaan-3 mission's successful soft landing on the lunar south pole suggests that when different life forms meet, one inevitably tries to dominate the other.
Somanath argues that if humans were to encounter extra-terrestrials, the outcome would be 'catastrophic'. He advocates for keeping our distance from any alien species, reports the Daily Star. In a podcast, Shreedhara expressed his certainty about the existence of extraterrestrials, saying they might even come to Earth to observe us.
It's a bit late for that.
