Republican South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace has said on a recent podcast that the mysterious drones sighted in the Northeast may be "craft from outer space."

"I think that has to be on the table," Mace said. "It has to be an option."

Newsweek emailed Mace's office on Tuesday for comment.

Mace joined commentary website OutKick's Clay Travis on Tuesday to discuss drones and how she believes the federal government is lying to the American people. Mace said she had hearings within the past few weeks about unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) and noted there are "some that are unexplained." She believes these may indicate what people are seeing in New York and New Jersey.

Mace would not expand, but said there are "two very specific shapes" of these UAPs that are always unclassified.

"I find that interesting and fascinating," Mace said, adding that while she has not seen evidence, "the odds are in your favor" that there is extraterrestrial life in the universe.
