As software developers build an increasing amount of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the apps on our desktops and in our pockets, we have become more aware and concerned about the nature of the AI brainpower being employed.

Concerns in this space have gravitated towards AI bias and AI ethics. If we run the world on AI apps, then can we be sure that the software engines behind them have been stripped of any gender (or other) bias that may have been consciously or unconsciously programmed into them? AI ethics is also a thorny issue. If we run the world on AI apps, then how can we make sure cultural, religious and other sensitivities are accommodated for?

In basic terms, we need to know more about the spectrum of intelligence behind the AI thought process and understand more about how it formulates the decisions it makes for us.
