Aliens could steer stars across galaxy to avoid cosmic disaster, scientist says

Super-advanced alien civilisations that endure for millions of years will sooner or later face cosmic threats such as supernovas or black holes.

And one American scientist thinks that we might be able to spot those super-civilisations using advanced technology to escape those threats.

Alexander Svoronos, from Yale University, says that a colossal machine he calls a “star tug” could be used to move an entire solar system across the galaxy.

“It’s a megastructure that can be used to move an entire star system,” he says. “If their star system is going to be in proximity of a supernova, they might want to try to avoid it.”
